The benefits of medium chain triglycerides (MCT’s)
When taken in conjunction with a healthy low carb diet, MCT’s may be of assistance to:
- Maintain a healthy metabolism and promote weight loss
- Natural appetite reduction with a sense of fullness
- Increase energy and fuel athletic performance
- Support brain function and mood
- Assist in achieving natural ketosis, switching your body to burning fat for energy
- Has the benefit of no taste or smell so you can taken easily by young and old or easily mixed in coffee and drinks
- Supports a healthy Vegan, Paleo or Keto Diet and is Halal Certified & Non GMO
Rainforest Herbs Body Hack MCT Oil provides concentrated liquid energy fuel. MCT’s are a unique fatty acid found in many foods but having their highest concentration in only Coconut Oil and Palm Kernal Oil. MCT’s function in the human body in a way that is increasingly important in today’s industrialized society where foods are excessively processed and refined. Until recently only traditional diets contained sufficient MCT’s but research over the past 20 years has revealed MCT’s supply fast energy for body and brain not dependent on insulin and not causing weight gains. A global dietary revolution in returning to the use of healthy fats like Coconut Oil and MCT’s is underway.
Humans have evolved overly efficient “fat storage” mechanisms that are triggered by excessive carbohydrate consumption. This tendency has allowed humans to survive by building up fat reserves that can be utilized for energy during periods of famine brought on by seasonal changes, such as winter or drought. In modern living we are surrounded by highly refined carbohydrates and sugars 24/7 so our bodies rarely if ever make the metabolic switch to the fat burning efficiency our ancient ancestors took for granted. Relying solely on refined carbohydrates for energy is a main cause of the modern day epidemics of obesity, metabolic disease, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Our Rainforest Herbs Body Hack MCT Oil supports the switch to thermogenesis by triggering metabolism and fat burning making it the most important addition to a healthy weight loss or ketogenic diet.
To get the full benefits of balanced blood sugar regulation and energy, MCT Oil is taken first thing in the morning, especially in drinks such as our Body Hack Bulletproof MCT Coffee to support the switch from fat storage to fat burning. By providing energy in the form of easily digestible fats we avoid the difficulty of fasting where our bodies become energy deficient, resulting in the catabolism of our existing muscle protein and loss of muscle mass. Alternately, take 1 hour before exercise to raise thermogenisis, athletic performance and endurance by sparing glycogen, and prolonging the availability of important stores of carbohydrate.
Because they provide fast nutrition MCT’s are used in modern medicine for treating food absorption disorders in diseases of the digestive system and after surgery. They’ve also been used in medically monitored ketogenic diets for neuronal disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and epileptic seizures in children. In critically ill patients who can no longer digest fats then MCT’s are also administered intravenously. Athletes have also been using MCTs for many years for energy support during training, as well as for decreasing body fat and increasing lean muscle mass. MCT Oil also supports the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins such as Vitamins A, D, E & K.

What is MCT Oil?
Oils and fats are categorized by how many carbons they have. MCT’s have between 6–12 carbons and long-chain fats have between 13 to 21. The lower the number the easier they are to digest with the optimal MCT’s for fast energy and ketogenesis being caprylic (C8) and capric (C10) acids. Coconut oil is the richest natural sources of MCT’s including lauric acid, an important MCT for immunity and to assist the body destroy harmful pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and yeasts. Lauric acid however is not broken down into energy as fast as caprylic and capric acid and as such is removed along with the long chain fatty acids during the fractionation process of Coconut Oil to produce the pure C8 & C10 medium chain triglycerides in Body Hack MCT Oil.
The MCT’s caprylic and capric acid have a small molecular structure with high water solubility and are metabolized directly from the small intestine and transported to the liver to be utilized as energy and not stored as fat. Long chain triglycerides (LCT’s) on the other hand are not water soluble and must be packaged into lipoproteins that circulate in the bloodstream and follow a complex route of digestion and assimilation, ultimately being stored as adipose fat. Little of LCT’s are utilized as available energy and LCT’s do not pass the blood brain barrier or support brain function.
- Only MCTs function as true fuel to support bodily and cellular functions:
- MCT’s are turned into ketones that the muscles and brain can use for energy.
- MCT’s are used for raising metabolism and thermogenesis.
- MCT’s are converted directly to ATP, the energy currency of the cell.
