CV Aceh Organic was founded by Indonesian Herbalist Ibu Nunun (aka Nurlina Drewe). Her passion for the fusion of functional health drinks and herbal infused coffee started in the year 2000 via her Jamu Health Cafés and Spas in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under her “Cafe Jamu” brand. This passion led her to return to her native Aceh and family owned coffee and coconut estates to develop them into premium artisanal products for the world market. Ibu Nunun is bursting with passion to explain that “Coffee has been growing in the Aceh Highlands for hundreds of years, first brought by the early Arab traders and the role of coffee in Acehnese culture can be appreciated by seeing the density of cafes in every city, offering a huge range of locally grown coffee varieties”.

Nunun’s mission is to empower her local community through creating awareness on sustainable and organic farming methods that preserves the Leuser Ecosystem in which the Gayo Highlands is situated. This is one of the richest tropical rain forests in Southeast Asia and the last place on earth where wild elephants, rhinoceros, tigers and orangutan are found together.
After completing studies in Ayurvedic Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medical Herbalism, Ben started his herbal practice in Malaysia in 1991 and straight away began researching and developing products based on Malaysian and Indonesian tropical herbs, oils and spices. This evolved into his “Rainforest Herbs” brand products sold in pharmacies, supermarkets and health food stores in Malaysia for the past 20 years.
Ben coined the term Herbalista as a combo of his day job as a medical herbalist and passion as a therapeutic oriented barista, formulating coffee & herbal concoctions to invigorate and enhance human health. Ben describes Coffee arabica as the enjoyable proof of the power of the plant kingdom to invigorate human physiology. Even total skeptics of natural health and alternative medicine sit down every morning to enjoy their morning coffee, without which their day has not really begun.

Ben met his wife, Nunun on a surfing trip to Aceh in Sumatra in 1994 and she introduced to him the rich offering of foods, coffee, spices and traditional medicines of this region. Now, 24 years later this has evolved into our Rainforest Coffee with our tropical functional food mixology that allows us to experience a deeper connection to the power of coffee in influencing our physical and mental health and well-being.
